2027 trip planning is happening now
Summer is winding down, school is back in session, and we’re already planning 2027 Costa Rica programs with schools and student groups.
If you’re a teacher or group leader who had a Costa Rica trip on your summer to-do list but never got around to it, now is a good time to start. There’s still plenty of time to plan a great trip for 2027.
We typically start talking with schools well ahead of time, sometimes nearly two years before a trip. Those early conversations are pretty simple. We talk about your dates, group size, budget, and what you want students to get out of the experience, whether that’s service work, language immersion, adventure, or simply giving them a chance to experience something completely different.
By September, planning starts to get more serious. This is when we begin locking in dates, securing lodging, and reserving activities. So if you’re starting to think about 2027 now, you’re right where you should be.
When should you go?
January, March, and late May through early June are some of our busiest times. They work well with school calendars, so they tend to fill up quickly.
But don’t overlook the months in between. Traveling during a quieter period can mean fewer crowds, a more relaxed trip, and often lower airfare. If your school calendar gives you some flexibility, it’s worth considering.
The weather is another factor. Costa Rica doesn’t follow the same seasons as the U.S. or Canada, and conditions can vary quite a bit depending on where you’re traveling. We can help you understand what to expect in different regions and choose a time that makes sense for your group.
Group size is important, too. It affects everything from lodging to transportation and the activities we can arrange. Even having a rough idea of how many students you expect to bring helps us start building the right program.
