Day Two – Travel to Turrialba
Today we’ll drive to the Turrialba Valley and stop at Aquaris Coffee to learn the process and history of coffee cultivation in Costa Rica. After, we’ll get settled into the Turrialba Vista where we’ll learn about the Camino de Costa Rica, a coast to coast trail from the Caribbean to the Pacific that crosses past this accommodation.
Day Three – Sitio Mata Homestay Project
Today we’ll learn about our Sitio de Mata Homestay Project which was recently featured as a TEDx subject. This project has grown significantly over the years and is a primary service focus for most of our school groups.
Day Four – Pacuare River
This is a big day as we’ll first tour Nortico Cacao Farms and learn about sustainable cacao farming, concluding with making our own chocolate. After we’ll head to the Pacuare River and we’ll raft through Class II and III whitewater to our private eco-lodge.
Day Five – Zipline, Tarzan Swing & Waterfall Hike
Today we’ll spend the morning tackling our zipline course and Tarzan Swing. Our property is over 200 acres allowing us to have one of the largest zipline courses in the area. After lunch, we’ll do a hike to one of our swimming holes on our local creek.
Day 6 – Pacuare Gorge
The Pacuare Gorge is what makes the Pacuare a National Geographic favorite. We’ll enter a steep canyon that’s rimmed with back-to-back waterfalls that cascade into the river. Between the awe-inspiring scenery, we’ll make our way through jaw-dropping whitewater that’s beginner-friendly yet adventurous. At takeout, we’ll then shuttle back to San Jose.
Day Seven – Fly Home
With a suitcase full of Pura Vida and memories we’ll drop you back off at the SJO airport to begin your travels home.
